Forum Art Gallery Chennai, in association with Chennai Photo Biennale 2019 invites photographers and photo-artists in India to send proposals for conceptual projects/work for a month-long residency in Chennai. The selected photographer will be mentored by noted photo-artist Nandini Valli Muthiah.
What kind of work can you submit?
This can be a proposal about an ongoing project or a new project that will need to be completed during the course of the residency and ready to be showcased during CPB2019 at Forum Art Gallery. The work/project must be conceptual in nature.
What is conceptual photography?
As a methodology, conceptual photography is a type of photography that is staged to represent an idea. The ‘concept’ is both preconceived and, if successful, understandable in the completed image.
RESIDENCY TO PROVIDE
Accommodation from 15 Jan – 22 Feb
Travel expense – Rs. 15,000 INR (from your city to Chennai and back)
Stipend – Rs. 30,000 INR for the month of the residency
Chennai based assistant to help around locally (if required)
Costs for production – printing and framing(if required) for the work basis your proposal
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Artist Statement and Concept note regarding the project (500 words)
12 to 15 images as JPEGs (1000 pixels on the longer side @72 dpi)
Installation references (if any)
CV and short bio (100 words)
Estimated budget for final production of work
