Forum Art Gallery presents 'Raas Leela’ to coincide with The Chamba Rumal : Life to a dying Art showcased as part of Kaivalam Art Summit in celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the 17th General Assembly of the World Crafts Council that was held in Chennai, India from 7th to 10th October 2012.
The Rumals most often featured scenes from Krishna's life, be it the love of gopis who are the personification of unconditional love, or the celestial dance of Krishna and the gopis or Krishna engrossed in playing the flute.
Swami Vivekananda opines that, “Raas Leela is the external expression of divine leela which takes place in the heart of each and every individual, between the finite and the universal soul”.
Lord Krishna, the personification of the transcending beauty of love, stars in the exhibition of paintings and sculpture that insights this vision in art. On contemplation, the body of works engages the Divine and the ‘Devotee’ be it the gopis or the viewer to ignite the mind, body and soul connection.
