NIRMALA BILUKA  (b.1980)

Nirmala Biluka recently submitted her Ph.D thesis at the Department of Film Studies and Visual Communication from EFL University, Hyderabad. She completed Masters of Visual Arts (Painting) from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda in 2005 and BFA from JNT University, Hyderabad. She was awarded the CSDS-ICSSR Fellowship 2015 and Junior Research Fellowship under the UGC in 2006.

GROUP SHOWS – ‘Nouveau 8x12’ and ‘Indo - Vietnam’ show at Hyderabad in 2017, ‘Mystical Renditions’ at Shristi Gallery, Hyderabad in 2016, IARTS, Canada and ‘Tales of Love & Betrayal: Retelling Ramayana’ in Bangkok in 2011, ‘Tryst with Telangana’ and ‘Reposte’ at Sarjan Art Gallery, Baroda in 2007 and in 2006 respectively, ‘Under Currents’ at Shridharani Gallery, New Delhi, in 2007, ‘Modus Operandi’ at ABS Gallery, Baroda in 2006, ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ at Sarjan Art Gallery, Baroda in 2008, ‘Reality Undone’, two persons Show at Gallery Sumukha, Bengaluru and Chennai, ‘The Big Picture’ by I.F.A, at Gallery Sumukha Bengaluru and ‘An Ode to Perfection’ at Bank on Art, New Delhi in 2009, ‘In Sync’ a two persons Show at Seagull Foundation for the Arts, Kolkata in 2010.

She was selected as ‘Artist of the Month’ on Saffron Art website in 2011 and was also featured as an emerging artist in an exclusive catalogue on South Indian artists by Apparao Galleries during the Chennai Art Festival in 2011.

She has been curating, coordinating and writing catalogues for several shows and has participated in several art camps, workshops, seminars held in India as well as abroad. She has also published academic papers on visual culture.
